Gabriel is a gourmet mehadrin downtown Jerusalem restaurant. Gabriel is situated in a beautifully renovated historic Jerusalem building at the top of the Shimon Ben Shetach pedestrian walkway. There are three seating areas: a pleasant outdoor space, indoors where there is a full bar and on the upper floor that can easily host private parties. When you reserve your table for the evening it is wise to reserve the location in the restaurant as well. More than once we have been inclined to dine outside in the beautiful Jerusalem air, only to discover that all the tables were all reserved.

Many years ago when Gabriel first joined eLuna, we wrote about the fine gourmet dining experience. The restaurant, we wrote, was lovely, the atmosphere delightful, the service excellent and the food, delicious. So many years later we can report that nothing about the dining experience has changed, except for a few menu items and the hashgacha. The restaurant is now mehadrin Beit Yosef with a full time mashgiach kashrut. This hashgacha requires that the restaurant remove the Goose dishes from the menu. These were the calling card of this restaurant under the Rabbanut supervision and many were concerned that the limitations of a mehadrin hashgacha would have a negative impact on the restaurant. This is not the case. The Goose dishes have been replaced by many other fine meat dishes and the dining experience has not been compromised.
